Barry Clark G.I. Fire Eng

Barry joined the fire service in 1964. He first entered the fire safety department of his Brigade in 1974 attending his first fire safety course at the Fire Service College (FSC) in the same year.

Barry spent the next 12 years as a fire safety-inspecting officer carrying out the inspection and fire certification of premises under the full range of the fire safety legislation prevailing at the time. During this period he attended further courses at the FSC and successfully completed the inspecting officers, the advanced fire safety course and the fire investigation course.

In 1987 he was promoted to a supervisory role with fire safety and operational fire cover responsibilities. Barry remained in this role receiving two further promotions until his retirement.

Upon his retirement from the Brigade in 1999 after 35 years, he was a member of the Brigades’ Senior Fire Safety Management Team with the responsibility for fire safety legislation and enforcement. Barry also holds the Nebosh General Health and Safety Certificate.
