Arsonsits Responsible for Fire in Birkenhead
A fire investigation into a blaze which started on the seventh floor of a block of flats has been completed.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 6.46pm on Sunday May 13 to Neston Gardens, near Beckwith Street, in Birkenhead on the Wirral. The fire was in the communal area on the seventh floor of the building.

Guests Evacuated From Falmouth Beach Hotel Fire
More than 100 firefighters tackled the blaze which broke out at the Falmouth Beach Hotel at Gyllyngvase just after 12:00 BST on Monday.
Guests, including Blur guitarist Graham Coxon, were moved to safety, but 12 guests – thought to have gone on day trips – were unaccounted for. Nine have since made contact, but nothing has been heard from three. Devon and Cornwall Police said there was nothing to suggest the guests had come to harm.

Fire Fighter Limit Arson Damage at Doncaster School Fire
YOBS who tried to burn down a Doncaster school failed after sharp-eyed firefighters spotted the blaze while attending another incident.
Their prompt action saved what could have been serious damage to Windhill Primary School at Mexborough, although the reception classroom has been put out of action.

Llanelli Recycling Plant Fire
More than 200 tonnes of paper and plastic caught alight at the tin recycling plant in Llanelli on Saturday (21st April).
More than 20 firefighters from Gorseinon and Llanelli stations were called to AMG Resources factory in Nevills Dock, Seaside, reports the South Wales Evening Post.

Factory Fires in Leicester Being Investigated

The former Corah factory on St John’s Street and a knitwear production factory on Frisby Road were both hit by fire on Saturday.

Leith Walk fire brings street to a standstill
About 50 firefighters tackled a blaze at a pub in Edinburgh last night. Emergency services were called to the scene just after 7pm after a fire broke out in a basement and spread to the ground floor of the Volunteer Arms in Leith Walk.
According to a statement by the Lothian and Borders Fire Rescure Service released on the evening: “The call came in just after 7pm to a fire involving the basement and ground floor of the pub. There are three floors of tenement flats above the pub. At this stage, there are no reported casualties.
“Seven pumping appliances and supporting vehicles including a height appliance were mobilised to the scene and at the height of the fire there were 12 firefighters in breathing apparatus tackling the blaze. Three hose reel jets and two main jets were used.”

Thousands Without Power After London Fire

Twelve fire engines were at the scene in Canning Town where a warehouse, pallet yard and scrapyard were alight. The London Fire Brigade said there were no reports of injuries. UK Power Networks said 88,000 customers were left without power because of the blaze in Ives Road, near Bidder Street.
It said all power supplies had been restored just over an hour later. A spokesman said: “We apologise to customers in east London who suffered a power cut today when a fire in Canning Town, which was not on our equipment, damaged overhead power lines.”UK Power Networks engineers restored supplies to all customers within an hour and 10 minutes.” He added: “Supplies were initially lost to 88,000 customers at 3.11pm.
“Power supplies to 19,000 customers were restored within three minutes, to another 38,000 customers by 3.34pm and to another 20,000 by 3.57pm, so 80,000 customers had power restored within 46 minutes. “The final supplies were restored at 4.21pm and we are working with the emergency services on site.”
Fire station manager Jim Morford, who was at the scene of the blaze, said: “This is the second large fire to hit the capital in 24 hours. “Several calls were received by the brigade’s control officers from members of the public who could see the huge plume of smoke rising from east London.” The fire service was called at 3pm and the cause of the blaze was not yet known.
