Dave Hawksfield

Dave retired from Tyne & Wear Fire Brigade in January 1999, having completed thirty two years service. During this time Dave achieved the rank of Divisional Officer and was Divisional Commander Fire Safety (SDO) for six months prior to his retirement.

Currently engaged by a Local City Council as Fire Safety Advisor, Dave carries out Fire Risk Assessments and provides advice on all aspects of fire safety in existing and new premises.

The council’s premises portfolio includes all types of buildings from office accommodation, retail outlets, residential care, housing, and public venues such as theatres and concert halls.

Following retirement Dave was appointed by the Red Cross to organise and introduce the Fire Victim Support scheme. This was successfully introduced within Tyne & Wear.
