Emergency Plans

Would your staff know what to do if a fire broke out at your premises? A ‘water tight’ Emergency Plan can help to prevent a minor fire incident from developing into a raging inferno.

At the very minimum your staff should be aware of:

• familiarity with fire alarm systems and fire procedures
• location of fire fighting equipment and fire alarm call points
• means of escape routes, fire exits and assembly points
• name and contact numbers of the fire wardens/staff responsible for fire safety duties

An Emergency Plan will need to cover numerous aspects relating to fire safety. It will need to contain information from how Fire Risk Assessments are carried out through to the delivery of fire safety information to employees. There will need to be control measures in place to ensure that the plan is updated on a regular basis and that actions such as regular fire drills are effectively undertaken.
