NHS & Care Home Fire Safety Training

Fire Safety Training for Hospital/Care Staff (as required by The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005). and the NHS Firecode)

This course is suitable for:

• Managers with a fire safety responsibility.
• Heads of departments with a fire safety responsibility.
• Fire Co-ordinators.
• People who have been nominated as fire wardens or deputy fire wardens responsible for the day to day fire safety of a building or part of a building.
• Nursing/Care staff.
•  Administration staff. 
• All people who may be present in the hospital/home on a regular basis.

 Content

• The action to be taken upon discovering a fire. 
• The action to be taken upon hearing the fire alarm.
• Raising the alarm, including the location and use of fire alarm call points, internal fire alarm telephones (where appropriate) and the alarm indicator panels. (Including the importance of understanding the information provided by modern addressable systems).
•  The correct method of calling the fire service.
•  The location and use of fire fighting equipment. (Including practical demonstrations)
   Knowledge of escape routes.
• Appreciation of the importance of fire doors and of the need to keep them closed.
•  Evacuation of the building, including progressive horizontal evacuation between protected areas and practical evacuation of patients.
• The prevention of fires in hospital/care buildings.

Duration: Three-four hours (Depending on the nature of the building).

Maximum number of participants: 10-15

Cost: From £350.00 per session (discount can be given if more than 1 session per day is booked).

A fire extinguisher practical session can be added to this training. For a group of 20 people, we would expect use
no more than:

2 x Water Extinguishers (£10 per extinguisher + VAT)
3 x CO2 Extinguishers (£20 per extinguisher + VAT)
2 x Foam Extinguishers (£20 per extinguisher + VAT)
1 x Dry Powder (£20 per extinguisher + VAT)

Extinguishers can be supplied by Fire Safety Specialists Ltd, or sourced by the client.

Live fire practical extinguisher training can be added to this session at a cost of £145.00 ex vat.

In addition, we supply ‘leave behind’ basic reminder instructions for ongoing use.
